Petition: Fix and Maintain Rural Canberra Roads

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory

The following residents of the ACT draw to the attention of the Assembly:

The state of the roads surrounding Uriarra Village are poorly maintained and are a hazard for residents who need to travel on them.

Mountain Creek Road, Brindabella Road and Uriarra Road are all vital connections for ACT residents who live in or near Uriarra Village. These roads are often riddled with severe potholes and are often flooded, trapping regional Canberrans.

Regional ACT Residents need to come to Canberra for essential services. The only way of travelling to Canberra from Uriarra Village is along Brindabella Road or Uriarra Road.

The closest Ambulance station to Uriarra Village is in Aranda, Belconnen and requires the emergency services vehicle to travel along Uriarra Road and Brindabella Road.

It takes the ACT Government a significant amount of time to repair rural roads in the ACT, leaving residents trapped and without vital amenities.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the Assembly to call upon the Government to prioritise the repair and maintenance of Mountain Creek Road, Brindabella Road and Uriarra Road.
