The Office of Ed Cocks MLA (Member for Murrumbidgee and Shadow Treasurer, ACT) is seeking an enthusiastic Electorate Engagement Officer based in Canberra, ACT. This role will combine office and electorate based activities to support Ed’s engagement with constituents on both electorate and portfolio related issues.

Position Overview

The Electorate Engagement Officer will drive community engagement across the electorate, combining constituent service, digital communications, media coordination, parliamentary support and on-the-ground engagement.

The key duties of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Responsive Constituent Engagement: Support face to face and written engagement with constituents, including through meetings, drafting correspondence, and engaging directly with residents, community groups and small businesses on local and portfolio issues. 

  • Digital Engagement and Outreach: Support proactive digital engagement through drafting and managing content for digital platforms. This may include data analytics and basic design.  

  • Proactive Constituent Engagement: Support proactive engagement with constituents, including through letterboxing, doorknocking, mobile offices and phone calls; coordinating volunteers and logistics. 

  • Media engagement: Support Media engagement, including drafting media releases, and other material; coordinating media enquiries, and monitoring and summarising relevant media. 

  • Other duties as required.

  • Ability to work well independently and deliver under pressure

  • Demonstrated integrity, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Employment conditions

This position is offered as Advisor Level 1.1 (Salary starting from $80,000) or higher depending on experience  | Full-time (ongoing) under the relevant ACT Legislative Assembly staffing arrangements. Flexible work options may be available. Occasional irregular hours are required, including during sitting weeks, and to participate in community events.

Additional Information
